People use the dead drop, its a complicated system. Thugs give money to young kids, then others come back and give them stuff, etc. Drug runnin.

Captain Cora Cranden taking us to city hall to see the magistrate. He asks for help with the Shiver epidemic. Claims a cult (The Brotherhood of the Spider) is to blame for the epidemic. Thinks something happened recently to escalate the situation. Happened around the time our dopplegangers showed up. Magistrate Stainton Drune.

Go to the Tan house. Meet Magistrate Tan. Frel hadn’t been home in days. Had bad habits, bad friends. Often seen in Lower town, Scuttling way, waker street. No other help to be had.

To the slums. Lots of missing person posters. Guards give names of a couple Shiver dens.
Tells us about 5 people hanged in an alley, covered in spider bites. “Spiders got em”
3 girls, bodies drained of color.

Find a shiver den. Ask for Frel, get the run around. Threats and stuff. Time to break things.

Proprietor flees, disappears. Find Tan’s shirt and signet ring. Alarra charms a guard.

Head to alley to find Frel’s ‘friends’
Alarra reads a mind and finds out Frel sold a book for drugs. Frel was working with Barvasi.
A spider crawls out of a guy’s mouth and webs start forming. Another guy pukes up a swarm of spiders, webs are all over, they are illusion.
The spider puker is dead, bile dribbling out of his mouth.

Now the addicts are our buddies, let us know Frel went to the night market fountain? People have bad dreams and wake up dead? Greely sells shiver? Local mystic?

Rumors of bad dreams and trouble sleeping. Possible Shiver epidemic (drug from dream spiders)

Pagenarium is missing. SAL visits the reliquarium and sees where it was, finds boot prints.

We hear a scream and run to investigate. Misty creature and lurching undead body engaged with city guards. Easily dispatched. Hungry fog?
2 guards dead.
Guards recognize dead guy, wearing nice clothes and boots. Frel Tan, a nobody. His uncle is a magistrate.
“Hogslop”, guy partially eaten by pigs?

Sharon obsessed with poop. Session ends.

Rinse and repeat

Group discusses talking to the families of the dead children.

We go to see Egbold the overseer. He will send the families to talk to us.

They agree to allow us to cremate the bodies.

The ceremony proceeds, and Black Aggie appears.

She is dispelled and the group sticks around for a few days to make sure that she’s really gone.

After burning the bones, the geas lifts.

Alarra now knows where the hags are. Group goes to the north hag. Swampy creepy swamp. Gossamer Gwen, dead in her glen.

Sending SAL down the Shaft. Damn Right.

He finds a variety of skulls. Then the ground starts swallowing him.

Alarra casts dimension door and brings Shardryn and Lorness with her.

Ooze creature, makes skeletons that are not undead.

The party heads deeper in following Locate Object on a charred skull.

Opening in the mine tunnel, there’s a human child made of green light.

“It doesn’t matter, I asked for this, it was my pleasure”

Find a blasted out chamber at the end of the locate object.

Alarra seems distracted and wanders back towards entrance. Then she disappears. The area is filled with an overwhelming aura of evil.

Crashing sounds from where we came. Winch and block and tackle are on the ground.

Look for Alarra, can’t find her, checking the areas where the green glow was seen, nothing was found.

In the burned out room, there is a full charred skeleton in the floor. Hunched and deformed. Bones have previously been cut/damaged, but are now arranged as for a burial.

There is a commotion up above, we fly out. The villagers have made an angry mob around Alarra. She is digging in the ground. The drovers are protecting her from the mob.

We approach and get Shardryn out of her trance. She was trying to dig up withered children’s hearts to eat. Yummy.

SAL puts his thinker on overdrive and thinks it could be hags. 3 of them make a coven.

Alarra’s mom was a green hag. Whoops.

NOW the foreman says that when Aggie’s body was thrown down, there was a green flaming fireball.

A familiar caravan is heading towards us. The caravan waited for us for days, leader is happy to see us.
Tanil sort of remembers us, she is awake and with the caravan.

Baelda is also there and happy to have legs. She is related to Lady grumpypants.

Other people woke up too and are with the caravan.

Drover 1: Tonio. Has very long fabulous blonde hair.

Drover 2: Michael. Everyone uses his name. All the time. He likes worms.

Party leaves the store with a guide, immediately attacked by guy with a pickaxe. Alarra charms him and he doesn’t know what he was doing.

An invisible, incorporeal creature cackles and disappears.

Townie shows up, tells us not to bother, they are just getting their just due.
Townsfolk killed black Aggie, chopped her up and threw her parts in the spent mine.
They say she made 4 kids sick. Got holes in their skin, couldn’t keep food down

She healed people in the town, always reminded them that there is a cost for the healing.

Interview everyone in town old enough to have been alive at the time. All took part and agreed with the mob that killed her.

We walk him home, see a green glow, it leads us to one of the mine shafts.

Check out the remains of Aggie’s burned out house.

She had sisters that visited and left just before the kids got sick.

As the guard starts to leave, Alarra charms him.

And then....

We put Tanil to sleep, and wake up in prison. Whoops.

72 hours earlier…..

Desna is for butterflies

The party follows the butterfly out of a different door into a hallway. It disappears. The party isn’t sure why it’s following the butterfly. Only Desna something something.

The hallway opens into a round room with no other exits. Shardryn and SAL find a hidden door that opens into an inner courtyard. The courtyard is sealed off from the outside, containing a forge underneath a pavilion roof, and a shack with a closed door. Against the wall by the closed door is a shield.

Attempting to reach the door handle, the party spots movement from behind the shield. A damaged doll, Ballda, is hiding there from the cat. The party aids her and she tells the story of how she came to be imprisoned within the body of a doll.

She had come to this area with an adventurer named Tanil. Tanil had a found torque and started to wear it. She was planning to go north along the trade road, and gathered a few supporters to help her on her journey. Tanil was an adult at the time, so she seemed confused when the party told her about a child named Tanil.

Inside the shack in the courtyard was several human-sized sets of armor. Finding nothing of value or interest, the party returned to the castle and found another hidden door. It led down a short hallway to a huge room with crystal chandeliers, and a gigantic marble ballroom floor. Human-shaped automatons in were arranged in pairs around the floor. Ballda said that she had been attacked and mutilated by the cat in the doorway to this room, so the party decided to search for the missing parts of her.

Seeing what looked like a group of musicians, Shardryn heads toward it. As Shardryn steps onto the dance floor, everything comes to life. The musicians begin playing a lively tune, the chandeliers flare to light, and the dancers begin spinning and weaving around the dance floor. Shardryn is knocked back and down by the dancers, and manages to escape the dance floor with minimal injury. Everything stops when she steps off the floor.

As Shardryn is still gathering her wits, the clockwork cat attacks her. Alarra gets the cat’s attention with the “magic wand” granted to her by Tanil. Once she knows the cat is looking, Alarra tosses the ball onto the dance floor. The cat chases after it and is destroyed by the dancing automatons.

In the peaceful minutes after this scene, the butterfly shows up again, and the party follows it to a hall of doors. Each door along the sides of the hallway seems to lead to a guest room. The door at the end of the hallway leads to what appears to be a workshop full of unfinished dolls and experimental doll parts.

SAL and Alarra go down the hall to another door, find the Arboretum. The butterfly flies out of the room, back into the hallway with the guest bedrooms. and into the workshop room.

Although they are back where they began, right outside Tanil’s bedroom, they can’t seem to find the door that led to the spiral staircase. Confusion sets in and the party begins to argue about what to do next. Shardryn wants to confront the girl with the information given to them by Ballda (who is still with the party Chewbaccing on someone’s back). Lorness is afraid that if confronted with this information, Tanil will suddenly become violent and smash the dolls into little porcelain shards. SAL is afraid of being given more tea and being made to wear a hat. Alarra wonders where their bodies went without them.

Group heads to granddaughter’s room, she is having a tea party. We get put into a tea party.

Sal sees our dopplegangers riding out of the courtyard.
